Does your audience sit on the edge of their seats in rapt attention, hanging on your every word?
Do they look forward to the next meeting with you?
Do they leave with a better impression of YOU?
You are about to learn the truth why so many talented people feel like colorless, mediocre communicators ...
You will take the power back ... and “Speak in Color”
Communication Skills are the secret to success
Study after study proves that great communication is the number one skill employers want!
96% in a BC Institute of Technology survey
#1 in a Ken Blanchard study
#1 in a survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers
#1 in a GMAT survey
and on and on and on ...
This fact is true outside the office too.
In a Pew Research study, 90% of regular people picked communication skills as "most important."
So why are so many presenters sooooo... boring?
You already know this, don't you?
If you're anything like me, you hate sitting through pointless meetings, mind-numbing classes, and "eternal" sermons!
You know how important presentation skills are, and you want to take yourself to the next level.
You don't want to be mediocre.
You are an achiever, a doer, constantly improving and striving for excellence.
But sometimes it feels like #%$!
Imagine it's your turn to present.
You've prepared. You stand. You speak.
You've zipped up and you start your presentation without a single wardrobe malfunction.
You deliver your remarks without a single heckler, and finish your talk without fainting.
You're done! You should feel great ...
But it doesn't always feel great!
Have you ever stood in front of a group and felt like your communication was all over the place?
OR like you were glued to your notes?
OR like people were using electronics and daydreaming instead of listening?
OR like you were wasting time and nobody would remember a word?
OR anxious ... like um ... and sweating ...uhh ... or nervous ... and like if maybe ... hot ... or ... shake—fumbling ... or something?
OR like you were on the defensive, on the spot, unprepared, at a loss for words, and MEDIOCRE?
Mediocrity is the Norm
Normal human beings are not wired to be their best on the spot in front of a group.
That guy who craves the spotlight, and becomes more confident in front of a group—he's not normal.
Are YOU Mediocre?
Everybody feels mediocre sometimes.
Next time you present, do this test.
Listen to what people say. Depending on the drama, it's usually some variation of this:
"Thank you."
"Thank you so much!"
"Thank you! So much! Oh! You did a good job! Yes!"
Some people just give lousy compliments, but
if the BEST compliment anyone can give you is some version of "thank you" ...
I hate to tell you this, but your presentation was mediocre.
Don't you still second guess? Don't you still wonder if the compliment is sincere?
Imagine the Perfect Compliment
You won't second guess.
You will know that people listened,
that you made a difference,
and that you got results!
You will know that others see you as
creative, competent, and confident.
Who is This Guy?
My name is Michael Griffith. I was born as a natural stick in the mud.
In an effort to turn my weakness into my strength,
I've spent my life seeking out the secrets of professional speakers.
After 20+ years of learning, speaking and coaching, I've dedicated my career to helping others NOT be boring.
My first public speaking job
Years ago, I took a job travelling the country teaching seminars.
After 10 years of study, I thought I was a good presenter.
The first day on the job, the boss flew me to Philadelphia.
Imagine standing at the front of the class in front of 50 people, alone on stage,
trying to keep people entertained for 8 hours with technical information you had spent 2 months memorizing!
(Maybe you don't have to imagine it, maybe you do it.)
For me, there were a lot of droopy eyes, and people regularly walking in and out mid sentence for coffee refills.
Nobody laughed. Nobody asked questions. Everybody just stared at the PowerPoint slides,
like I wasn't even there.
When I got back to Colorado my boss looked me in the eye and said:
“ People complained that you just read the slides! We're not going to pay you! ”
I was worse than mediocre! I almost lost my job!
You're competent, you're qualified, and you're an asset to the project ... and sometimes it turns out mediocre anyway.
What was I missing?
Over the next decade I spoke from coast-to-coast in front of hundreds of audiences:
from secret service agents to agricultural scientists and from church pews to teenage speech contestants.
I tested every presentation technique the "experts" teach.
Guess what the problem was?
I was not a bad presenter. Neither are you a bad presenter.
Mediocrity happens because all of those tips and skills that we've been taught are only mediocre tips and skills.
It's not your fault! We have been taught to be mediocre.
I hate it when mediocre speakers waste my time, and I hate it even more when I feel like I've wasted yours.
If I can teach you this new approach ... If I can save just one boring event ... I feel like a success.
The 3 reasons most people aren't better communicators
Problem #1
You're getting bad advice
Let's do an experiment.
Nearly every old-school presentation skills course uses the same techniques.
Off the top of your head list the public speaking advice that you've been taught.
Then look at the yellow list.
Eye contact
Don't ummm
Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em
Body language
Practice
It's not about you
Slow down
Know your audience
Dress for success
Picture the audience naked
Add humor
Breathe
Never apologize
Good grammar
Organize
Vocal variety
Use visual aids
Did I hit the biggies on your list? I've read the books and taken the courses—and they're nearly all full of this same old-school advice.
The controversial truth
Here's the thing.
This old-school, conventional, cliche advice IS the problem!
With all do respect to your boring college professors who teach this baloney as gospel,
most of this advice is utter garbage.
The best motivational speakers and keynoters know this.
My favorite all-time quote is from professional speaker Joel Weldon:
I know that you've heard some of this cliche advice—even from professional speaking coaches.
The advice is not fundamentally wrong or bad,
it's the way most people apply it that leads to mediocrity.
Example: When good advice turns BAD
Every public speaking book I've ever read, and every coach (even the ones that charge $3,000 a day)
will tell you to “Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em.”
We've all heard it so many times that we take it for granted that it is good advice.
It's NOT good advice!
What's wrong with conventional wisdom?
They don't mean what you think they mean.
Do the $150 per minute professionals actually “tell ya what they're gonna tell ya?”
Yes and no.
When a professional coach says “Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em”
it's vitally important that you know what they mean by TELL and that you know what they mean by WHAT.
99% of the people I've coached will TELL the wrong WHAT, at the wrong time, in the wrong way.
Since the cliche advice doesn't make it clear WHAT you TELL, it's usually bad advice.
That's problem #1: You're getting bad advice.
Flamboyant motivators rarely know how to translate their inborn charisma into the real world.
They present in the spotlight.
You present in real-life board rooms, churches, classrooms, and so on.
Don't do what they SAY, do what they DO!
What do they SAY about public speaking anxiety?
You already know that lots of this advice is bad—I'll prove it.
You can immediately identify an old-school trainer when you bring up the subject of butterflies.
They rehearse the cliche:
If you feel butterflies, you know it's just not that simple!
They just don't get it. They can't get it.
Problem #1: You're getting Bad Advice
Our heads are swimming with tons of advice that we just assume is true.
Never ASSUME
WHO originally gave the advice to "never apologize?"
Is it true, or is everyone just repeating some anonymous source?
Do you know a scientific study that tells you to "slow down?"
Or is it just some teacher somewhere that said so.
Most self-proclaimed "experts" are just repeating unconfirmed, unsourced, anonymous tips,
and you're getting bad advice.
Problem #2
You're getting impossible advice
Go to any library and open any book on public speaking.
At least one page in every chapter will be filled with nothing but long, academic-style, bulleted lists of tips.
Have you every been to a presentation where someone showed PowerPoint slides
covered in bulleted lists, animated bulleted lists, and bullet-less bulleted lists?
Yes, yes, and yes!
Say it with me ... B-O-R-I-N-G-!
Do you have time to use a 101-bullet checklist for every sentence you write?
every paragraph? every speech?
Even if it's all good advice (which it's not),
there is no way—even in a perfectionist utopia—that
you have the time to apply a 101-tip checklist to each presentation.
Applying all that advice is impossible!
Your checklist looks more like this
Problem #2: You're getting Impossible Advice
It is impossible to do everything the "experts" ask you to do.
I almost lost my job
because I tried to apply all 101 tips. The end result was mediocrity.
You've tried lots of those tips.
If they work so well, why are you here reading this page?
Why, because they don't really work so well.
Over the last 25 years
I have collected all those tips from the experts.
As of today my bulleted list of good advice is 769 bullets long!
It is impossible for you to apply all of that "good" advice.
Problem #3
Conventional advice is not tailored to YOU
How many techniques do you want?
Drama, humor, and slowing down are not for everybody!
Depending on your personality, some pieces just won't fit.
I will never ask you to conform to somebody else's bulleted list—not even mine.
You can get attention, influence others, and make a tremendous difference by staying true to yourself!
Problem #3: Conventional advice is not tailored to YOU
When you follow the same rules as everybody else, you sound just like everybody else.
Old-school advice results in gray, colorless mediocrity.
Because unless you have a private coach, it's not tailored to YOU.
Introducing...
Cards
Software
Training
SpeechDeck is the antidote to dull, gray, mediocre presentations.
SpeechDeck helps you speak in color!
Attention. Influence. Results.
Imagine stepping down after finishing your next presentation
and experiencing a better kind of compliment:
“Woah! I never saw YOU like that before.”
“YOU are the best I've seen.
“How did YOU do that?”
“Will YOU speak to us again?”
“I remember YOU!”
“I'm going to tell my class (boss, friend, etc.) about YOU!”
Instead of complimenting what you say, people will begin praising who YOU really are.
You'll no longer be one of the rest of them who wonders if the compliments are sincere.
You'll no longer wonder if you chose the right words, because people won't be praising just your words.
They will be praising YOU!
It's not for everybody
Some people always conform.
Some people prefer to blend in to the norm.
Some people are happy to settle for mediocrity in presentation skills, and develop other talents instead.
If I am describing you, then SpeechDeck is not for you.
If you want a one-size-fits all formula to meet the minimum expectations of your job,
then stick with traditional public speaking advice.
There is not necessarily anything wrong with that approach.
I just do not understand it.
My goal is for you to stand out from the pack.
How Does SpeechDeck Work?
True professionals know that the conventional, academic-style rules just don't work well.
One of the most famous speaking coaches in the world, Patricia Fripp, often opens her training by saying:
I had this exact experience.
After the first 45 minute consultation, one of my new clients said to me:
This is possible because SpeechDeck uncovers the PRINCIPLES that make the professionals' techniques work.
Over the years as I coached clients, I made it my goal to identify the PRINCIPLE involved in every technique.
At each appointment I would leave a handwritten note card summarizing those principles.
Eventually after years of work,
the 769 techniques on my bulleted list were all distilled into just 8 proven principles.
One day, my 13-year-old daughter asked for my help creating a personalized deck of playing cards.
She inspired a speaking system unlike any other program available today.
SpeechDeck was born!
The 3 HUGE advantages that SpeechDeck has over other courses.
Advantage #1
It's Scientific
Studying Communication
I spent the first half of my life studying communication. Big mistake!
Speaking clubs and classes teach you to organize information,
but good information and good communication are not the same thing.
My world changed when I started reading books from researchers like Robert Cialdini, Daniel Pink and
Dan Ariely.
As these researchers explained the science behind how the human mind makes subconscious decisions,
I suddenly started to see how all the professional speaker's secret TECHNIQUES actually worked.
Studying Psychology
The secret to good communication is not good information—the secret is good psychology!
Studying the psychology of public speaking has become my passion!
For 15 years I've been aligning the communication secrets of professional speakers with the proven science of influence.
Innovative leadership and sales programs already use these principles to help you have more influence.
Unfortunately, most public speaking trainers are still stuck in the stone age (age of rhetoric).
It doesn't matter what you have to say until the listener's brain is actually engaged! That's psychology.
The 8 principles of SpeechDeck are 8 ways to tap into the human brain
in a way that makes people listen to you, makes people remember you,
and makes people act in a way that achieves your objectives.
Advantage #1 - SpeechDeck is based on proven science.
Advantage #2
It's Personalized
Conventional wisdom says that “it's not about you,” and focuses only on your message.
But if you understand the science of communication, you know that you cannot separate the message from the messenger.
You are an original! You are more valuable than any one message. You are indispensable.
You don't want people just to remember your message,
you want them to remember you, admire you, rely on you, and promote you!
If it's not about you, why are you on stage presenting?
If YOU don't matter—let someone else do it!
Rather than conforming to procedural rules that make every presenter the same,
let's adopt universal principles of science that allow each individual to shine.
While the 8 color-coded principles of SpeechDeck apply to all communication,
the way you apply the principles allows you freedom to maintain your own personality and style.
More on this later.
You don't have to conform to SpeechDeck.
SpeechDeck conforms to you.
Advantage #2 - It's personalized
Advantage #3
It's Simple
Traditional Complexity
I'm saddened that speaking coaches, whose skills I admire, sell
the type of speaking courses I despise.
Endless complexity might sell more products,
but it doesn't help the student—It doesn't help you!
Most all-inclusive courses sell for around $999
and introductory courses sell for around $297.
And guess what? They're pretty much all bulleted lists.
I was chatting with one of these internationally well-known speakers at a conference.
He sells his courses for prices similar to those above. I actually heard him say this:
His technique was right on! I even include it in SpeechDeck.
However, the fact that he doesn't understand WHY it works is a big problem.
Systems that focus on TECHNIQUES without knowing the underlying PRINCIPLES are too complex.
Universal Principles
It took me 20 years and lots of trial and error to simplify everything I have learned.
I know now, that it's finally ready for you
because every bullet on my list of 769 techniques and every technique I find in others' professional courses
fits nicely into one of just 8 SpeechDeck principles.
I've done the work so you don't have to.
You only have to know 8 principles.
That's WHY it works. True principles are just as true for beginners as for seasoned pros.
At any given time, you need to focus on just ONE PRINCIPLE AT A TIME (one SpeechDeck card).
The advantage of simplicity is that whichever principle you choose, you can
find a technique that can be incorporated into your real life with just 5 minutes of preparation!
Advantage #3 - It's Simple
How do you Speak in
COLOR?
It's as simple as 1-2-3:
Start with any "black and white" presentation.
Choose a color that matches your purpose and needs.
Pick any technique card of your color for step-by-step instruction.
Step #1: Start with Black & White
Color can't help you if your presentation is "gray."
Black and white represents the "Clarify your content" principle.
Shown here are the 3 most important "skill" cards: Headline, Story, and Illustration.
Follow these cards to organize and simplify your core message.
It's even easier with the SpeechCrafter software (described later).
This is the only principle that is absolutely essential in every presentation.
It is so important that I teach this principle for free on my web site.
Old-school classes and mediocre speakers stop here and settle for black and white clarity.
SpeechDeck takes it to the next level and pairs each component of your black and white message with "color."
Step #2: Choose a color
Even if you have a great message ...
you'll have ZERO impact ...
unless people actually pay attention to you.
No matter how clear your message, black and white is boring. Adding color means:
People will pay close attention to you (even if they don't want to).
You'll be more persuasive and have more influence.
You'll leave a lasting impact and see real results.
Real-life example
Let's say you're walking into a team meeting at work.
You don't have time to prepare a script, but you want to have more influence at the meeting.
All you have to do is pick a color.
Look at the quick reference card for an instant overview of the 8 principles.
Pick any color that matches your desired outcome and needs.
If you want your communication at the meeting to have more "impact,"
you instantly see that you need to use violet "Engage the Subconscious" cards.
You focus on just one principle—one color—at a time.
Step #3: Pick a matching technique
Because you have narrowed down your needs to a single color—a proven princple,
you don't need to sort through a long 100-point checklist.
All you have to do is pick a card ... any card.
Real-life example
You chose the violet principle for more subconscious impact.
For step-by-step instructions just pick any technique card from the deck that matches your chosen color/principle.
Since you'll have at least 12 cards of each color,
you'll easily find a card that fits your personal style.
Follow the step-by-step instructions on the card.
It's that easy.
Most cards take less than 5 minutes to implement,
so you'll be able to get more attention, more influence, and better results even when you don't have a lot of time.
Adding color is easy. Just pick a card ... any card.
The Next Level
If you master just a few colors,
people will hang on your every word, sit on the edge of their seats,
and anxiously jump up and do what you ask.
The more time you have, the more "color" you can incorporate.
If you want the best results, make sure you choose techniques from every color of the rainbow.
The more colors that you include, the more engaging your presentation can be.
All membership orders include the online digital version of the Essentials deck so that you can access the content anywhere.
The optional physical cards are color-coded 3" x 5" cards that feel like playing cards.
The physical deck allows you to easily create a personalized, color-coded system.
For each color, choose just 2-3 techniques that fit your personality and style.
Viola! You have your own personal communication system.
Click the underlined links above to see the high-quality standards of the product.
The SpeechCrafter App
The SpeechCrafter software walks you using the cards to brainstorm,
organize your content, and add color so that your presentations stand out.
You can outline and organize your writing with drag and drop simplicity.
Unlike a word processor, you associate each section of your presentation with SpeechDeck colors and principles,
so that you can easily follow the integrated step-by-step card instructions and maximize the effectiveness of your presentation.
SpeechCrafter is like a private personal coach sitting next to you while preparing any communication.
All of the features and video demonstrations will be available later on.
Who loves SpeechCrafter?

Here's the PROOF that It Works
I know that these principles will take your skill set to the next level because for 8 years
I traveled coast-to-coast and tested out the techniques.
After thousands of hours on stage I've experienced techniques that work like magic:
2 minutes that transform silent classrooms into interactive conversations
Get rapt attention from beginning to end
Connecting with people of different age groups and backgrounds so that they go out of their way to identify with you
A secret to not get embarrassed when you accidentally burp or fart or make a fool of yourself on stage
The ability to turn a technical subject into something captivating
Principles that make people remember your words and pass the memory test
Magically appear like an expert authority, even if you're not
Transform mediocre evaluations into requests for you by name
The principle that stops awkward moments from shutting down the room
Ability to build group loyalty and cooperation
How to make the listener FEEL your words
How to be comfortable in the spotlight
The secret that makes each listener say you were talking "just to me"
The ridiculously easy way to be seen as genuine and authentic
One word that builds rapport with an audience that may be very different from you
Reveal yourself without being too into yourself
Keep people alert
Psychological tricks to get more compliance
Make the audience feel good
The secret to getting participation and shutting it down
Make content relevant to the listener
Transform a speech into an experience
A one second trick to get 100% eye contact
Handy preparation checklists
Add emotion quickly—even if you're not emotional
8
Remember, this is not actually a bulleted list of dozens of different techniques.
All of these results come from just the 8 SpeechDeck principles.
Dozens of these techniques you won't find anywhere else.
They are not in any book, because many of them I learned through my own real-life experience.
What my clients are saying
I also know it will work because these principles have helped my clients in professions in every industry, all around the globe:
You're normal.
SpeechDeck doesn't give you specific techniques to calm the nerves because "techniques" to solve anxiety are only temporary solutions. Some methods have been scientifically shown to have a measurable effect, but they all treat the symptom and not the cause.
The cause of the anxiety is that you are using techniques that make you feel mediocre.
When you are willing to try the SpeechDeck principles, you will find that your anxiety automatically reduces over time.
Barring some actual psychological problem, which is rare,
the anxiety automatically reduces because you experience better results,
and subconsciously retrain your brain to expect the best.
Absolutely not. I don't want to be a therapist, nor diagnose your ailments.
That's the beauty of it.
SpeechDeck is not based on psychological principles that are in dispute, nor uncertain laboratory research.
These principles are actually common knowledge in scientific circles.
That's why they work.
They are tried and true.
The principles themselves are not unique.
The principles have been incorporated into other industries for years.
What is new is that I apply them to public speaking.
I do not know why every other trainer in my industry is so locked in the old-school methods.
Hopefully, more coaches in this industry will catch up with the science.
Good for you. Always match your presentation to the circumstances.
Color doesn't mean drama, or silliness, or informality when it's not appropriate.
WHAT you say is important.
Color is HOW you say it.
In some formal, business, and emotional circumstances the style might change, but the same principles apply.
Color is what makes people pay attention, gives you more influence and maximizes results.
All of those goals still apply in formal settings.
There are at least a dozen techniques for each color.
Always pick a technique that is appropriate.
Yes they are. That familiarity is why they work so well.
Modern content on a familiar medium.
It's easy to understand how to use the physical cards,
easily shuffling your ideas and create a personalized speaking program.
You are always welcome to buy only the digital online edition.
The interactivity has big advantages over the physical cards.
However, I also recommend a physical deck to everyone.
I use my personal physical cards much more often than the online cards.
I understand. I know that some of the traditional advice works for you.
It's not all bad. If it works for you, do it.
My main concern for you is not any one piece of advice being good or bad.
I disagree with the conventional approach because they focus on tradition and techniques rather than science and principle.
Don't give up any techniques that work for you.
Use SpeechDeck to add an understanding of those essential underlying principles that make those techniques work.
Those principles will help you learn why some advice works for you, but may not work for others.
Both. SpeechDeck includes 8 Principles.
If you are a principle centered thinker, then you will be able to create your own techniques based on those principles.
If you prefer step-by-step instructions and demonstrations,
each principle is associated with many techniques of the same color.
Use whichever approach that fits your personality.
For the most immediate results, focus on just one color, or just one technique at a time.
Because each color is based on sound scientific principles, you will surely see rapid results.
However, since no one color or technique will be ideal in all circumstances,
it will take time to practice and learn to apply all eight principles.

$
Professional speakers who understand the principles I've been talking about charge $10,000 or more to give a one-hour speech.
They charge thousands of dollars per day for private coaching.
If you're not a high-paid CEO, you can usually buy their home study courses sell for around $799, or their introductory courses for around $297.
One of my clients paid $5,000 to go to one of those big name professional speakers' workshops.
He frankly admitted “it wasn't worth it!”
I was shocked and saddened to learn that for $5,000 they covered the equivalent of SpeechDeck's black and white principle
but they didn't even teach him the most fundamental storytelling principles on the violet cards.
This is how I know that Speechdeck is the best system available.
Because I've found that every one of the techniques they teach in these expensive courses and workshops
fits neatly into one of the 8 SpeechDeck principles.
Here's what SpeechDeck is worth
In the first meeting with a client I charge $125,
and we usually cover just the "clarify your content" principle (black & white).
Add $1 each for technique cards and $83 for a one year SpeechCrafter subscription:
Clarify Your content complete training
$125
7 Principles + 84 Technique Cards
$91
SpeechCrafter subscription
$83
TOTAL VALUE
$299
With just these 3 components SpeechDeck is worth about what most famous-name programs charge for their introductory courses.
Unfortunately none of those programs, that I know of, have a science-based, principle-centered, color-coded system.
And no one offers anything like the SpeechCrafter app. It's the first of its kind.

Welcome
As I mentioned at the top of this letter, communication skills are the number one secret to success.
If you are happy about your present skills, I wish you the best of luck.
I hope you don't miss out on the money, the recognition, and the respect your deserve.
If you want to take control, constantly improve, and stand apart from mediocrity, I welcome you to SpeechDeck.
Thanks,
Michael Griffith Conquerying Communication Mediocrity
As I've coached large TED-style conventions and my services are offered to every speaker at a conference,
not everybody works with me. That's fine.
The amazing part is that those who don't accept help
are often the worst speakers—even when they think they are the best.
Those who willingly accept help, are the best speakers—NOT because of my coaching,
but because the type of people who seek out advice are the very type of people who excel.
I congratulate you on taking that next step.
